Creativity Through Music
Posted by admin at May 3rd, 2008
When I was a student in Advertising, one of our campaigns assigned was Ikea. Through my entire college career there was only one campaign that I failed to find the winning creative idea. It wasn’t normal for me at the time, and it always worried me that one day in my professional career the same creative block would stand in my way. Well, it so happens that yet again, just last Thursday I was asked to work on the Ikea account. Now that is completely ironic, but to say the least it was time for me tackle it from a fresh new perspective. I tried every technique I wrote about in the blog, of which one of them was ease dropping. Nothing seemed to work for me, so I finally decided it was time for a new approach.
Likewise creativity can be found through many avenues, it is all about thinking simple and to the point. Easy said than done…
I decided that I would try my luck with music and see how my imagination would run based off of the music I absorbed. I tried many types of music, Jazz, Hip Hop, Classical, and even some Reggae. Each one brought an interesting way of looking at furniture. So to say the least, I now have a pool of ideas that I am absolutely excited to present.
Take a stab at it and let music be your inspiration every now and then, it always seems to unlock something.
Happy Listening
