Creativity and Why We Loose It

Posted by admin on Thursday, August 16th, 2007

We can all relate to the time when we sat in kindergarten and made these stick figure drawings with lots of colors and imagination. We would never be afraid to show anyone what we drew because to us as kids it was amazing. It was a masterpiece. Now we grew up in a judgmental society. There were always those kids who had wild imaginations and wild ideas. Everyone always loved his/her ideas because they were so imaginative and so amazing. But for some of us, we lost that imagination and that drive to believe that we are all creative.

The creative struggle starts with one thing, and that is belief. If you believe that you are not creative then the results will always become negative. Express positivism in which you are creative and your ideas may suck, but that is going to change. Your ideas will be worth the listen and worth the execution. Your ideas are creative. Get into the mindset.

If you want to be creative you have to have an ego. Long long ago, we were taught that having an ego is bad. It is a terrible thing to have. Well, take a look at all the great creatives out there, they are all filled with ego. Now I am not saying to be a cynical with the ego, but have a conscious ego in believing you are the best of the best, but never let it take control of your mind and begin to think others are idiots.

Forgetting you are creative comes from a lot of conditioning from peers. All of a sudden we are judged by other people. We are ranked amongst who had the best project to who had the worst. Reality is, people won’t remember your project unless it was completely horrible or amazing. Never the ok ones are remembered. It sucks but that is how we work.

So if you really want to be a creative start diving into my other posts. These tricks are guaranteed to jump start your creativity. No where else will you find this quality of information.

Hey Mitesh I think you are absolutely right. We are all concerned about what other people think and because of that we loose our creativity we all had. Thank god for all your other posts that really help me think different and more creative. Great stuff you have here.
