Left Brain Vs. Right Brain | Which Are You?

Posted by admin on Monday, June 11th, 2007

brain

Are you a left brainer or right brainer?

Right-brain folks tend to be more of the creative versus the left-brain folks tend to be more of the analytical. However, both sides tend to have distinct qualities that can be found similar.

1. Left brain people tend to sort out their skittles and eat them. Right brain people don’t care and just put it in their mouths randomly. Left brainers also tend to eat meals in certain orders, first the mash potatoes because its ok, then the peas because they are gross, then leave the chicken for last. Right brainers mix it all up.
2. Left brain people tend to stay on task by keeping organized schedules, right brain people keep it all in their head.
3. Left brain people approach tasks by going down a to do list and crossing off finished tasks, right brain people do something when inspired.
4. Left brain people have their desk well organized with categorical folders, right brain people have piles of unorganized papers.

So really the right brain is for the artistic abilities of a person. A person who is a right brainer over the left brainer will be more artistic, creative and spontaneous. On that note a person with a more active left brain will be more logical, precise, analytical and controlled in behavior.

I sort out my skittles, eat my meals onee at a time.

I dont use schedules. My desk is a mess.

I continually create items and must always be working on something. I love photography. I actually enjoy doing databases and spreadsheets. When I work with money I sort the bills facing the same way.

    Which am I?

  2. Mitesh Says:

Hi Jason, well to me you sound like a strategic thinker who has strong analytical abilities combined with an imaginative mind. So if you ask me it sounds like you are a left and right brainer.

Congratulations you are one of the few

    cheers

    Mitesh

  3. Willy Says:

Umm I wouldn’t say one of the few Mitesh I share the same traits as Jason. It’s probably pretty common

  4. Mitesh Says:

Hey willy, just wondering which traits do you have?

  5. natalie Says:

i scoff my skittles, my desk is usually strewn with papers and pencils of all sorts, i have a diary but i cant seem to use it, everything is in my head,
i do something when i am inspired. BUT when i work with money (ie using the till at work) i have to put them the right way round. oh dear, sounds a little ocd. obviously im a right brainer with left brainer traits. this is really interesting learning about different people and ways they think and work.

  6. Mandz Says:

Hey. I was wondering if it’s true that right-handed people tend to be left-brained, and that left-handed people tend to be right-brained. A lot of people have told me this.

I eat my skittles randomly, but I do eat my meals in certain orders. I keep everything in my head, do things when inspired, and everything around me is a mess. So, I’m right-brained. And I’m also left-handed, so that’s where the theory above comes in. :)

  7. steve Says:

I also sort my skittles, and eat my meals in sequence. Though not always the same sequence as the one mentioned above…sometimes it’s just worst to best. I basically don’t do schedules of any kind, in my head or out. On my own time I ‘work’ when inspired, at work I make a list about 33% of the time. My desk is a messy war zone…to the untrained eye. In fact the apparent mess around me is a precisely calculated cartesian coordinate system of ordinal groupings, with a bunch of other temporally random crap in between.

I also enjoy whispering ‘eureka’ into the wind as I poo in a cup with baby mice only to immediately clean them with sterile urine. Not mine of course. My collected works on systematic universal enlightenment through this practice will be published upon eve of the crossing of the great planet.

    What does that make me?

  8. Mitesh Says:

    Hi Mandz

To answer your question, yes it is true that left handed folks tend to be more creative. Actually as a matter of fact to prove this point further, at the design school I attended I would say half the people were left handed. The reason behind this is that the left part of your brain controls the right side of your body. The right side of your brain controls the left side of your brain. Therefore being left handed gives you more brain activity on the right side already.

  9. Mitesh Says:

    Hi steve,

You sound just like a creative. Messy desk, dont really care for schedules and the big give away, need to be insprired. That is the one key element that gives away a creative mind. So next time you are in a conversation and it comes up that you need to be inspired to work…the left brain folks just wont understand you at all…I mean they may even call you lazy but they are just ignorant…some will be able to relate because it happens to them sometimes…and maybe a few will say “RIGHT ON!!!”

  10. Akshay Khatri Says:

I don’t sort out my skittles and i dont eat my meals in order. I write things down to remember things though and i sort of need a task list. On the other hand, my desk is really messy so i guess im a combination of both!

  11. Maegan Says:

i do the skittle thing, i have to have my locker at set at 0. I suck at drawing, but im not good with math, i make lists only for school tho, and whenever i meet somebody to hang out it always has to be on an even time such as 8:30 or 9:00.
